On the 29th April 2014, the NESFAS team along with a few well-wishers got together to plant the first batch of seasonal vegetables in the office community garden. The day was picked in accordance with the Lunar Agricultural Calendar that the Khasis follow which pronounces a new moon’s eve known as ‘Ksang Bnai’ as the best day to plant any form of flora.

The vegetables planted in the NESFAS community garden include red potato, turmeric, Manipuri bean, purple bean, coriander, carrot, maize, beet root, yam, cucumber, pumpkin and onion.

Vegetables grown in this community garden will be distributed among the poorest families of Laitumkhrah, where the NESFAS office is located.
