Festival goers relished meals prepared by Mei-Rame Festival goers relished meals prepared by Mei-Ramew Cafe!
.
Our pioneering custodian cooks and owners of Mei-Ramew Cafes, Kong Dial Muktieh and Kong Plantina Mujai from Khweng, took their Indigenous Ri-Bhoi cuisine platter to the Boating Festival at Nongmahir, Island on April 17, 2021.
.
The festival served as one of the important platforms for enhancing community-based livelihood opportunities.

On this day, two years ago, we inaugurated the Community Seed Bank in Laitsohpliah, East Khasi Hills.

The seed bank serves as a space for preserving Indigenous seeds that farmers use for the plantation of different crop varieties naturally and share seeds with local farmers from neighboring communities. 🌾👨‍🌾👩‍🌾

@nesfas mission is to preserve and promote Indigen @nesfas mission is to preserve and promote Indigenous knowledge and perspectives.

One of the actions taken forward in this regard is our work with local community artisans on the Indigenous art of traditional weaves and embroidery in Meghalaya.

Watch @tntthenortheasttoday film production on one of the artforms that can be traced back to 200 years ago, known as 'Khneng' embroidery, and our intervention in the space giving the community a much-needed boost to preserve the art of traditional embroidery.
