Earth day, 22nd April, is a day where we inspire more awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s natural gifts. It now takes place in more than 193 countries around the world. On this day, the world would encourage everyone to turn off all the unwanted things away.

Environmentalists all around often talk about the threats to Mother Earth from pollution, climate change or over population. Even now, human activities are responsible towards the various causes into the atmosphere; like burning of fossil fuels, and in this regard, we should enhance and promote more greenhouses in order to reverse this deadly impact. Climate change is evidently visible and also peaking from time to time, and this caused serious implications on the environment and all living beings.

Therefore, this year’s theme, ‘Restore Our Earth’ indicates that we should focus more on the natural processes and green technologies that can help to restore the world’s ecosystems.

NESFAS and its partner communities join hands to focus on the preservation of agrobiodiversity through various initiatives;

  •  As we are aware of the rich biodiversity, we must try to increase new farming methods, which will not cause any impact to the environment.
  • Secondly, we know that our environment and our ecology have become an area of concern. Hence, sustainable farming is one that can help the farmers to innovate and progress at the same time.
  • Lastly we must promote local livelihoods where consumption and production takes place in achieving sustainable economic growth.

To say the least, as human beings we are still taking care of this planet by acknowledging the Earth Day, annually. It is true that we all cannot develop the good deeds that the world needs, but the least we can do is acknowledge our Mother Earth in the best way we can by commemorating the ‘International Earth Day’, and together with our positive actions and perspectives, we can rebuild and restore the planet. Let us all be part and come together to make the smallest yet impactful efforts to take care of the planet, not only once a year but everyday.
