According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation, over 820 million people — approximately one in nine people from around the world — were hungry and suffered from malnutrition and affected one in every three people. Every year, on October 16, the world comes together as one in order to fight against global hunger.

Hundreds of events and outreach activities bring together governments, businesses, NGOs, the media, and general public. They promote worldwide awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger and for the need to ensure healthy diets for all.

On the other hand, NESFAS celebrated this important day in eight schools across eight communities by organizing a poster competition. The winners will be awarded certificates and also their posters will be uploaded in the FAO poster competition.

Also, members of Living Farms, who are in Meghalaya for a five-day exposure trip, visited Rapleng along with a few NESFAS staff. Rapleng is a partner community of the partner organization Social Service Centre (SSC). The group went on an agrobiodiversity walk along with community members. After the walk, a cooking demonstration was held by NESFAS wherein they taught the communities how to cook a healthy meal using ingredients found from the area itself.

Let us all lead a healthy lifestyle for a better and secure tomorrow.
